NXT Skills is a specialist Post-16 provider and alternative provision for young people aged 14 to 25 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
We provide vocational skills training, life skills development, and employability skills in a fun, nuturing and engaging environment. Our goal is to help you build confidence and move towards further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
We're very different from school or college, and we aim to be more like an adult place of work.
If you’re looking for a supportive and dynamic environment to develop vocational skills, life skills, and employability skills, NXT is for you. If you've struggled with school or college previously, we have a strong track record of success in helping young people like you to get back on track.
We don’t look at previous grades or qualifications – we’re only interested in YOU and helping you to achieve positive outcomes. If you’re out of education or training and don’t know what to do next, we’d love to meet you.
We're open Monday to Friday. We offer morning placements, afternoon placements, full-day placements or a combination:
• Morning sessions: 9am to 12:30pm*
• Afternoon sessions: 12:30pm to 3:30pm*
• Full day sessions: 9am to 3:30pm*
*Times subject to change. Morning and Afternoon sessions have the same duration of workshop time. Morning sessions have additional break time.
NXT Skills is based in Fareham, Hampshire. We support young people from Fareham, Portsmouth, Gosport, Southampton, and the surrounding areas.
As we are an adult-like working environment, the minimum age to attend NXT is 14 years old.
We offer flexible options including part-time morning and afternoon sessions, as well as full day sessions. We will discuss the schedule that works best for you, and we can also fit in with existing school, college or tutoring timetables.
Yes, we provide transport to and from The Hub in Fareham* as part of our service. Our aim is to make it as easy to possible for our young people to get to us. Equally, if you’re interested in learning independent travel, we can also support you in using public transport and finding suitable walking routes.
*Subject to location

Our aim is to equip you with the essential skills needed for everyday life and future success.
NXT is a day service only, open from 9am until 4pm, Monday to Friday.
The Hub is a self-contained facility with our own kitchen, toilets, work spaces, workshop, chill zones and social spaces. Based in Fareham, The Hub has plenty of local shops within walking distance.
NXT is designed to replicate a place of work, so we don't have specific terms or start dates and we welcome new starters all year round.
NXT is a funded service. Typically, we are commissioned by SEN Teams, Virtual School, Social Care, and Care Leavers teams. We also receive funding directly from schools and accept self-funded referrals.
Having an EHCP is not a requirement if other funding sources are available.
Please get in touch with us if you would like any more information.
If you would like to see NXT, get in touch and we can arrange a visit. We also offer taster sessions so you can try a workshop and get a feel for what we do.
