NXT is a full-time, onsite day service for young people aged 14+ with behavioural, social, and emotional needs. We engage and support those at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) after leaving school.
Many young people who come to us have had negative experiences in school/education. We offer a specialised, supportive environment where you can build confidence, achieve goals, and have fun!
We’re an adult-like work environment, combining practical vocational skills building alongside social skills, life skills and employability skills. Our goal is to get you back on track.
We know that starting something new can be scary, so we’re flexible and we'll make a timetable to suit you. Some young people start with just a few hours a week, gradually increasing over time.
Our flexible pathway, NXT Futures, allows post-16 learners to work towards a Level 1 Diploma in their chosen area of interest. We're an accredited Open Awards provider so whether it’s bricklaying, digital media, catering, arts & crafts, or any other area we offer, you can complete individual modules during your time at NXT and leave with a qualification alongside your skills and experience.
We also offer Functional Skills in Maths and English, which can be particularly useful if you’ve struggled with these subjects previously.
Your timetable will always include plenty of opportunities for enrichment activities.
Onsite, you can enjoy playing pool, air hockey, PlayStation (& PSVR), board games, or unwinding with our giant boxes of LEGO.
We'll also go offsite for activities like snooker, taking our friendly NXT dog Malin for a walk, going swimming, and even go-karting.
The Hub is fully equipped with a Media Suite, Multi Trades Workshop, Arts & Crafts Area, Catering Kitchen, Fitness Suite & Beauty Station.
